Learn Marshallese
A free, offline-first Android app for learning Kajin M̧ajeļ.
Marshallese is spoken by people across the Marshall Islands and a sizable diaspora, yet it has had almost no presence in modern language-learning software. Learn Marshallese is a small effort to change that: a clean, ad-free study app built around curated vocabulary, structured lessons, a spaced-repetition quiz, and tools for the community to record pronunciations and submit corrections.
The app respects how recently the written language was formalized: every entry can carry an official spelling alongside the common spelling and known alternates, so learners aren't forced to pick a side that doesn't match the Marshallese they hear at home.
What's inside
- Lessons — greetings, numbers, time, weather, classroom and travel language, and core grammar.
- Curated vocabulary — a small, deliberately hand-checked starter set, with official and common spellings shown together.
- Spaced-repetition quiz — practice that focuses on the words you're still learning, including any custom words you add.
- Custom word lists — build your own lists from words you encounter outside the app.
- Pronunciation recording — record yourself saying a word; share it later only if you want to.
- Contribute & feedback — submit corrections, suggested words, or recordings; everything is opt-in and reviewed by hand.
- Progress tracking — streaks, daily goal, and review reminders you control.
